This coffee comes from Edelweiss Estate, located on the edge of Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Area, surrounded by lush indigenous forests. The farm, founded by German settlers in the early 1900s and later taken over by the British, was purchased by the Vohora family in 1969. Nestled between 1,650 and 1,820 meters above sea level, Edelweiss is in a remote part of Northern Tanzania, but the Vohora family is dedicated to engaging with the local community. They run sustainability projects, offer apprenticeships, support local schools, and founded nurseries for their workers' children. The farm's green border with the conservation area also means wildlife like elephants and buffalo regularly cross the coffee plantation, sometimes posing challenges for the delicate trees.
